New cases of cancer are decreasing, along with the death rate. abc News reports that, “New diagnoses for all types of cancer fell by almost 1 percent per year on average from 1999 to 2006 and deaths fell 1.6 percent per year from 2001 to 2006.”
The most common types of cancer are accountable for the major decreases. The most common cancers include lung, breast, prostate, and colorectal cancers. Even though men are more likely to get cancer than women, cancer cases in men experienced the greatest decreases.
